Seaweed Baths:
Seaweed baths are Nature’s perfect body/psyche balancer. Remember how good
you feel after an ocean walk? Seaweeds purify and balance the ocean — they can do
the same for your body. A hot seaweed bath is like a wet-steam sauna, only better,
because the sea greens balance body chemistry instead of dehydrating it. The
electro-magnetic action of the seaweed releases excess body fluids from congested
cells, and dissolves fatty wastes through the skin, replacing them with minerals,
especially potassium and iodine. Iodine boosts thyroid activity, so food fuels are
used before they can turn into fatty deposits. The vitamin K in seaweeds boosts
adrenal activity, meaning that a seaweed bath can help maintain hormone balance
for a more youthful body.

What is Thalassotherapy?
Thalassotherapy is an ageless, cleansing, health-restorative technique. Thalassa is
the ancient Greek word for sea, and the Greeks did indeed use the sea for their well-
being. Judging by the therapeutic centers still known to us, much of the population of
the ancient world soaked in sea water tubs and hot seaweed baths, drank and
inhaled sea water for health, got sea water massages, had seaweed facials and
used sea water pools for hydrotherapy and detoxification. Today, we are learning
once again, about the ability of the sea to reduce tension and de-stress us, detoxify
our bodies, improve circulation, relieve allergies and congestion, and ease arthritis
symptoms.

About the herbs in a Crystal Star Hot Seaweed Bath:
KELP (Laminaria) - a mineral-rich, brown marine plant containing vitamins A,
B, E, D and K; a significant source of vitamin C; works as a blood purifier,
relieves arthritis stiffness, and promotes adrenal, pituitary and thyroid health;
a demulcent that helps eliminate herpes outbreaks; kelp contains sodium
alginate (algin), an element that helps remove radio-active particles and
heavy metals from the body; algin, carrageenan and ager are kelp gels that
rejuvenate gastrointestinal health and aid digestion; kelp’s natural iodine can
normalize thyroid-related disorders like overweight and lymph system
congestion.
KOMBU (Laminaria digitata, setchelli, horsetail kelp) - decongestant for
excess mucous; helps lower blood pressure; has abundant iodine,
carotenes, B, C, D and E vitamins, and minerals such as calcium,
magnesium, potassium, silica, iron and zinc; also contains the powerful skin
healing nutrient germanium.
BLADDERWRACK (Fucus vesiculosus) - is packed with vitamin K, an
excellent adrenal stimulant; still used today by native Americans in steam
baths for arthritis, gout and illness recovery.
DULSE (Palmaria palmata) - a red sea plant rich in iron, protein, and vitamin
A; tests on dulse show activity against the herpes virus; purifying and tonic
effects on the body, a supremely balanced nutrient.
SEA PALM (Postelsia palmaeformis) - American arame grows only on the
Pacific Coast of North America; good source of detoxifying algin.
WATERCRESS (Nasturtium officianalis) - a good source of vitamins A, C,
E, B1, B2, and minerals such as iodine, calcium, magnesium and iron; aids
detoxification.

How do you take a Crystal Star® Hot Seaweed Bath™?
Taking a Crystal Star® Hot Seaweed Bathonce a week stimulates lymphatic
drainage and fat burning, so you can keep off excess weight, reduce cellulite and rid
your body of toxins.

  • dry brushing the body before bathing is recommended, as it will enhance the
    benefits of the seaweed soak
  • place seaweeds in tub and run very hot water over them
  • fill tub so that you will be covered when you recline
  • add aromatherapy oil if desired, to help hold in heat and boost your detox
    program
  • get into bathtub when the temperature feels right to you
  • gel from the seaweed will begin to coat your skin
  • rub your skin with the seaweed to enhance gel action, stimulate circulation
    and remove released wastes
  • when the gel coating dissolves and floats off your skin and the seaweeds
    shrivel, your bath is complete
  • you’ll notice better skin tone, color, and circulation almost immediately
  • after your bath, take a cayenne-ginger capsule to boost assimilation of the
    seaweed minerals

(A 2 oz. package contains enough for 2 baths.)
